I decided to spurge and spent $25 on a megabass vision 110. I caught this 3 pound 14 ounce (this is actually a almost 4lber I used my scale this time people) large mouth yesterday on hartwell no problem. The next fish I hooked into was a monster if I had to guess 8-12 lbs and I’m about 95% sure it was a hybrid or spot. I got it really close to the boat saw it flash and gave me one last run and then it got off. I looked at my jerk bait and the back 2 hooks were completely straightened out. 3 out of the 6 hooks on the back treble hooks were straight and one was broken off. I feel like a $25 jerk bait should come with hooks that can handle 2 fish. I switched the hooks out for gamakatsu hooks but still feel like I shouldn’t have had too.

I always replace the hooks immediately on my 110s. The stock ones are very think guage.
The 110’s are good, but ive always heard that people swap out the stock trebles.
yea the stock trebbles are pretty thin wire to prevent impeding the action
the angler has a lot to do with it too. people hook in to stuff and get excited then try to horse the fish in.
rod also plays a part in it too.
I fish it on a medium power rod as to not overpower it on a nice fish
The stock trebles are super light wire by design to achieve the balance and action the bait was designed to have.
The Vision 110 was originally designed/tested with 8lb flouro (maybe 10lb) leader/mainline. It is a finesse bait that you can NOT horse fish in on. Its best to be thrown on light gear or at least greatly reduced drag.
I’ve caught 5lb smallmouth, near double digit hybrids, double digit striper and mid 30″ to low 40″ muskie on 110+1’s and haven’t straightened the trebles (no I wasn’t throwing a 110 targeting the latter 3, just numerous bycatches over the years). Hook a 2lb bass and horse it in and I’ll straighten them everytime.
The benefit of a vision 110 is that they will get more bites. They come with light wire hooks and are best paired with 8-10lb line and fished on a medium power moderate action rod. You will need to have the drag set appropriately to avoid bending hooks or breaking a fish off.
A vision 110 is not an appropriate bait for Striper/Hybrid bass. Heavier hooks will kill the action on a vision 110.
Pretty sure they were designed to be used with lighter spinning gear so the hooks added match that – light wire. If you know that, you need to either adjust drag accordingly or swap out the hooks for something heavier.
If you go the route of swapping hooks, be careful with weight since much heavier hooks will affect the baits ability to suspend. It usually only makes a noticeable difference when leaving the bait paused for longer periods of time(when the water is real cold).
Their hooks are decent. You might want to back off your drag a little and better action rod so the tension isn’t so stiff on the fish.
The 110s were designed to fish with 8 lb line to maximize the action which is why the stock treble hooks are such a light wire. I’m not a fan of the stock trebles they use either but there was thought behind them being so light. If you use 10+ lb line with them you have to change out to thicker gauge hooks or back down on the drag.
Megabass are good but yes definitely overrated. Yozuri’s premium brand, Hardcore are the best jerkbaits I’ve used by far and they’re cheaper than Vision 110. Second would probably have to be an Evergreen jerk bait. Then Megabass, but paying all that money for a jerk bait and still having to replace the trebles is Mega Ass.
