Hi everybody,
I’m looking get started in fly fishing and I’d like some input on how equipment. I’ve come across maxcatch and for the price it looks like I could possible get everything I need. I do not understand completely about the wt of the reel and rod. I live in ABQ. I’m hoping to fish in the immediate area mostly.
My questions are:

I believe it’s mostly trout out here (could be wrong) what wt rod and reel should I get?

Is max catch a good brand?

There are other maxcatch combos Availible. Am I missing much by getting this combo as opposed to another combo?

Do you have any other recommendations for kits similar to this?

The line is the bad part in a lot a combos. I use a pretty cheap rod and reel, especially since I only use the reel to hold line, not for drag. However, the line on my reel costs more than the reel and 50% of what the rod costs.
Plan on new line. It makes a difference
Cheap setup but I got my son something similar to teach him to fish with and he’s caught trout on it in several states now.
The line isn’t great on those and they’re not great casting setups but they get the job done enough.
I actually have that exact combo and it’s a great rod for the priceÂ
