my buddy just picked up a kayak off of facebook marketplace. the minn kota it came with has this adapter. what parts does he need to connect it to a battery? any help would be great. thanks. the male part is connected to the trolling motor. the female part is corroded and ghetto wired to the sellers old batteries which dont work.

    At a glance. It looks like that white/beige coloured box is (was) a PWM controller for the electric motor. The lid would have a potentiometer in it with a round knob (controlling throttle) and likely and forwards/reverse switch. Maybe a digital volt meter too.

    What us mod enthusiasts like to do is remove the original head off the trolling motor and replace it with an electronic speed controller. A) this allows you to have a much smaller controller right next to the seating position to control forward/reverse and throttle. And b) it also gives you a really nice resolution more precise throttle control (instead of the usual 5 set speed options of the mechanical throttle that comes stock with the motor ).

    I’d say the PWM throttle controller (cheap eBay/Amazon controller) probably got cooked and was removed which is why you’re seeing all the loose wiring inside.

    That’s just my guess based on your pics.
