This is my betta fish Iris and I love her very much. I recently got into photography and I’m saving for a camera but rn I only have my phone. These are my best pictures of her but I redid her tank and wanna get more pictures of her. I need tips and some pics of your bettas
Iris is not a photogenic fish and she will approach me when I go to look at her and then as soon as I bring out my camera she will swim away
Also would it be worth it putting her in a clear cup to take a couple pics of her in? I don’t wanna stress her out but she doesn’t get scared very easily

she’s so pretty! depending on what phone you have, a clear cup would be okay. as long as ur not using flash she’ll be fine for 10 minutes in the cup. Animals and fish get stressed easily, it becomes a problem if they’re consistently being stressed out every day. I took this pic with my friends iphone 17

U can put some more lighting in the tank… like the overhead light. And have food up top luring her to the front (cuz my fish loves food) or u can tap the water for her attention to come up. U can also record a video to get the whole picture and u can screenshot ur phone. Idk if it helps😂
I primarily photograph and record all my fish and tanks with the phone! What helps lots is having a well lit tank and photographing in a dark room with closed curtains so there’s no weird reflections. A light right above the fish is awesome. Another thing that helps is seeing if your phone’s camera offers the option to shoot in “pro” mode and adjust your own shutter and iso settings to have A LOT more control over the exposure and light overall. Working with manual focus is a game changer too if you have a dish that moves a lot and need refocusinh all the time. 🙂 Getting used to all of this now will make getting the camera later even more worth it as you will be able to utilise all it offers!

A pic of my son for reference!
I use video to take all my pictures. Take a video and use [this](https://imgur.com/a/B3treyr) button to take photos.
Take a live photo, then you will be able to view each image to see which one you like. Try to sit still with your camera on near her, and when she’s distracted and not coming for you, that’s when you snap.
