
This thing has appeared in two separate fish tanks I own. I was under the impression for months that it was a slime mold, but Google images show it's a "Bryozoan".
It clearly enjoys my tanks, so I'd like to know if it is beneficial or more of a pest? It's kinda scary-looking, but if it's for the greater good of the aqua pets, I will let it stay rent-free.

Looks like a bryozoan colony, super cool!
Super cool and probably beneficial those fluffy bits are used to pull food out of the water column like mussels. Just means your water has lots of a micro food source they enjoy. I think it’s pretty rare and cool!

They are filter feeders and usually die out in established tanks.
