I am really happy with my first try at setting up an aquarium. I worked on this plan for a couple of months till I finally ordered everything and set it up.
I got a lot of stones and hardscape second hand. I wanted to have corys so I decided to go for a sand substrate, with nutrient tablets for the plants that need those. I first started to make a wishlist of plants that could deal with of medium light and no co2 setup. In the back I planted mostly nitrate absorbers like ambulia and bacopa.
I did not actively apply aquascape rules. I did however experiment with the wood and rocks on a towel to get something that I liked. I wanted to create some caves and cover. I did try to spread the plants out from high to low from the point of view from where I would mostly look at it with a nice mix of colours.
I am planning to mostly put in second hand fish that need a new home. So I am not really sure what the final stock will be, since I don't know what i can get my hands on. I do have cardinal tetras. I want to get some cories, rummy nose, honey gourami and some shrimp in. Maybe some glass catfish because they are just so cool. also maybe some otocinclus but I worry that the water might be slightly to hot for them. (24-25 C). Suggestions are welcome!
