I got him last week (tank is cycled) He swims like this, going in the filter's direction and then "running" back to the other side (he sometimes directly faces the output so he's strong enough to not be pulled around if he wants to) . Stays a lot in the upper part of the water. I feed him 4 really small pellets (dennerle betta booster) and yesterday was fast day but he kinda looks… round even when I don't feed him, could it be some kind of early stage bloating and should I fast him more? Or is it just the normal size of a full betta?

When I was about to feed him today he got really energetic and kept skimming around his black "nest" and hitting the glass and popping his head out of the water or against the frogbit, is this normal? Got me a bit worried from.the sudden shift lol

This tank is a 25L, temperature fluctuates from 26,0 (time of the video) to 26,6 when hotter day outside, I can definetely turn the lights down if needed. it's on a 4h white light+2h blue light cycle and the window is half opened (opposite side of the room from the aquarium)

No tankmates except baby ramshorn snails I'm not sure he's eating or not. I don't spend a lot of time in this room so he doesn't have me bothering him/he's mostly alone.

I have a betta stick he runs away from as soon as I put it close, and he runs away from fingers too. He's been aggressive with adult ramshorns that I moved in my 60L (third day of cycling rn) so no tankmates.

Water parameters were perfect when I put him in, did a water change on Saturday (20ish percent every 10 days) so there may have been some changes (I can bring a water sample to my lfs if you think it may be a cause of concern)

Only other thing I think is worth mentioning is the fact that he recently made a cute long poop in his nest so he does indeed poop.

Thanks for the help 🙂 beginner here so yeah def need it

He doesn’t seem to be behaving oddly to me. Balanced swimming and can go up and down with ease and without drifting off so it doesn’t seem like he has any obvious swim bladder issue. He may be a bit bloated; amount of food fed each time should be about the size of his eye (that’s how big their stomachs typically are). If the bloating gets any worse or if you notice he’s struggling to swim, try an epsom salt bath.

Light, filter, and tank all look great. If you can situate it so he’s got more shaded spots, I’m sure he’d appreciate it!
