I guess this may be too homemade for some people but I was sick of my hook snagging on things like my car, etc. The couple of hook guards that totally cover the point/barb of the hook are overpriced.
I just put on some self fusing tape to protect the rod a little bit(any tape is fine) and then zip tied the pen cap on.
Not gonna do much for things with trouble hooks, but for single hooks works well.
