The season opener in Oregon let me get back to the type of fly fishing I love best, climbing mossy boulders with a light rod in the coast range looking for aggressive trout. Didn't see anyone for hours and caught enough fish to lose count.

For the most part, these cutthroats wanted nothing to do with anything but dry caddis patterns. The biggest of the day was caught with a soft hackle on a tenkara rod though.

    Nice, I fish these rivers too, almost exclusively tenkara these days. I’m really surprised that it’s not more popular here than it is. Perfect for this area and size of these rivers above tidewater.
