Hi all
Looking for some advice on buying a travel rod. I mainly want to use it for sea lure and float fishing in the UK off places like piers and sea walls. Basically wherever my kids decides they want to do crabbing.
Also would like it to be versatile so that I can use it just about anywhere, eg canals, norfolk broads, etc for both float and lure fishing.
I know there is no true jack of all trade rods, but I have plenty of full size rods if I want to do anything specific. I just want a compact travel rods that will do alright in most scenarios wherever I end up.
I have 2 main options that I have been looking at:
https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/abu-garcia-diplomat-v2-travel-fishing-rod-reel-combo
8ft 10-35g
Or
https://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/advanta-travel-spin-rod-inc-traingular-hard-tube
7ft 15-50g
I need a reel too, and I can get an advanta reel with this rod, the abu garcia includes one. Both end up being the same price point.
I was wondering what people think would be the best option between these two. I'm not sure if 35g is enough casting weight for sea fishing, or if the 50g advanta is overkill for things like canals? What about sea float fishing?
