SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Boston College rowing team delivered a strong performance at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Saturday, earning two first-place finishes and a pair of runner-up results on Fish Creek. The Eagles faced a competitive field of collegiate rowing programs from multiple NCAA divisions across the Northeast.
“I am thrilled with the full-team effort at Head of the Fish today.” said head coach Grace Hollowell. “The 1v’s close 2nd place finish and the 2v, 3v, and 4v all placing in the top 4 of the 2v 8+ event show the depth of our team this year. Both freshman 8+s medaling capped off the afternoon perfectly, and show the speed that the team is continuing to build across all class years! I’m proud of the way the team continues to push each other in practice and racing everyday, and can’t wait to get back to work.”
The Eagles’ second varsity eight crew captured first place in the Women’s Collegiate 2V Eight with a time of 11:34.270, finishing ahead of Cornell University.
Boston College also claimed first place in the Women’s Collegiate Frosh/Novice Eight, finishing in a time of 11:24.283 ahead of a competitive field that included UAlbany, Colgate and MIT.
In the Women’s Collegiate Eight, the Eagles secured a second-place finish behind Cornell by only 00:03.670. BC finished ahead of MIT and UAlbany by over 20 seconds in the 16-boat field.
