Tautog, Sea Bass and A Few Scup

It was a beautiful day to be on the water and some folks got to bend a ride on some awesome fall fishing

Brick Michael was fishing  with Mark and Josh Knaub on the wrecks today and caught  a 3 man limit of tautog  and a couple sea bass. The biggest tog was 23 in and around 7 lbs.

Captain Monty Hawkins  of the Morning Star had to work for it today, but ended up with sea bass and a few scup.

Sea Bass (and a few scup) on another calm October day – 10/29/26

With no perceptible wind in predawn hours & the sun making a bit of art as it rose with a few clouds on the horizon; we enjoyed a fine start this day.
Had a young man start working with me a few weeks back. Catching on quick, I thought he’d be a rock star before long. His 5:30 am text said otherwise.
If you know a youngster (well, younger than me) looking to get on a boat, I expect I might be needing someone. Though Sean did a fine job this day, it can get right busy this time of year when the weather cuts us a break. Know someone? Just tell ’em to email a short dossier to mhawkins@ morningstarfishing.com.

George & Capt Don deployed our short stack of blocks at Ring Master Reef Group before heading considerably further off.
Our first drop pointed toward a great day ahead; some nice scup, double keepers of cbass
..then things fell in a heap.
Forba agite eUgh.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. WTHeck?
Keeep Fishing!
Best I could do was pick at em rest of the day. Made for a lot of wheelhouse work.
Had a few anglers close to double digits with Jigmaster Tom & Capt Don crossing over. It was George, however, who pocketed today’s pool money.
Left early – stayed nearly two hours late. It was all I could muster today.
Cheers,
Monty
