In response to the posts asking about what to start out with, I thought I’d throw this out there. I’m near the beach in the NE for the weekend for a family thing. May or may not get to fish and had limited room in the car. I only bought one rod, one reel, and a small plastic tote.
Rod: Battalion 2 piece 50/50 split 10’M ¾-3oz
Reel: Slammer 5500bls
Surf Belt: Z Belt with 3 tube bag, grippers,
headlamp (extra batteries), knife, pliers
A dozen or so plugs 1 ½ – 3oz, A17 diamond
jigs, bucktails 1-2oz
Leader Wallet
Leaders: 3-5 each, 20lb flouro-100lb mono
(heavy on 50lb mono) 36-42” long Spro
swivels, TA Clips
Sun gloves, a couple of Buffs, quick dry pants, LS T shirt, beach sneakers, floppy hat, and sunglasses.
Quart ziplocks (wallet, phone, keys, etc…)
On a fishing trip I usually load the car with rods, reels, laundry baskets of waders, surf tops, clothing for every weather, and totes of plugs. In this case I grabbed the bare essentials without thinking. It’s not going to cover every situation, but I could probably fish anywhere in the NE right now and do ok.
