Will this work for shark fishing? 5-8 footers

I was wondering if this old Penn Jigmaster no.500 would do alright for some surf shark fishing? I plan on using a kayak to paddle the bait out so casting isn’t an issue but was wondering about the drag and spool size. Thanks guys!
