The Phenix trifecta lite and the Phenix feather are good rods, but start to get into the pricier side of things. I bought an Okuma Rockaway as my first surf fishing rod, it’s great for Carolina rigs and the 115 surf pointers and battle stars but is a little stiff for flash minnows IMO. the Okuma SST feels a lot better for throwing flash minnows if you’re trying to stay on the cheaper end. I’ve heard good things about the Rockaway Sp but haven’t tried it. I’m currently using a 10’7 Okuma Hawaiian custom for throwing flash minnows, swimbaits, battlestars, and jig Paras and like it a lot.

Not your preferred length but I have a 10ā6ā Okuma GSP that slings these LC minnows a mile. They can be found for around $150 and comes with a lifetime warranty.

I have both the trifecta 10 and rockaway 10 sp paired with van staal..the SP can launch your heavier jerkbaits with ease and itās also a lightweight rod..I prefer it over the phenix..just depends what youāre going after.
I have a Star Rod Aerial surf that Iāve caught tons of fish on over the years. Ā I exclusively throw lures and have my eight footer set up with a 4500 spinfisher.

I used a Shimano Teramar, really like it. Halibut, Corvina, rockfish, worked well with everything and up to 2 oz weight or so.

I use a major craft tidrift 962ml for this. You can cast lucky crafts and Daiwa sp minnows very far. The only issue is lifting bigger fish out of the water onto the Jetty, I need a net but on the beach that’s not an issue.
They come in a lot of different lengths. I got this as an upgrade to my Okuma SST 8’6. In general it’s nicer all around but my SST was a MH so a much different rod
I have the 1g version but I’m thinking of getting the 5g and probably a medium over a medium light
