The people in the tutorials make it look like they're spinning pipe cleaners. I've got 240 pound wire and this stuff is ridiculous to tie. It keeps coming undone and trying to shoot apart. Id have liked to make a double haywire twist but I can’t make let alone one. Any advice would be nice

Coming from construction industry, you need a 12” piece coming off, that you bend 90° out and then straight up to make a handle. Grip the first crossing with good pliers, and then use your handle of wire to spin it around your straight wire, keeping your wraps tight. Cut off excess.
I used to make trap hook setups for my Huddleston swim baits with wire and crimps. But just out of curiosity why wouldn’t you use regular mono for the tie? When using that type of hook it is intended to pierce the fishes mouth in the corner hence …. Not exposing your line to its teeth. Just sayin 😉
Start with 90 lb wire to learn the technique.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s super simple, but there’s definitely a learning curve and I wouldn’t want to be learning on 240# wire.
Here’s a YouTube video

Couldn’t you crimp it?
What’s the fishing application for this? Sharks?
Yeah let’s not have the tip of the wire printing straight out like that…smh so many regards having regards anymore
I have a small bullet shaped device that I bought that makes them super easy. If I wasn’t at work I’d try to post a pic of it. Bought it years ago at West Marine
This will not hold. Your tag is just wrapped around the running wire. The two wires should be bend together crossing each other at least 4 times.
A small screwdriver or a heavy gauge hook shank will help you. Take your two strands and form a V, about 45 degrees, with the screwdriver inside. Hold the ends and the screwdriver between your fingers and use the hook to start turning. You should feel BOTH wires bend and torque. After you see it cross at least 4 times you can remove the screwdriver and bend the tag end to a full 90 degrees. Make 4 more turns to make your barrel twist. Then, You can work the tag end back and forth until it breaks off (I’ve never been the best at the last step).
Do all that or you can buy a du-bro tool to make life a lot easier.
