Made a post previously about rod/reel combos for surf fishing, I have a bit of experience with freshwater. Are these the right specs to get started with surf fishing? It’s a penn pursuit IV combo

Yes. It’s probably the best entry setup for surf fishing imo

I wouldnt get an 8000, if ur going for biggg game then maybe but id stick with the 6000, thats what I use for blacktip and other 50+ lb fighters
