I’m sure some of you have seen the original post I made about the fly on the left. I used a regular hook, braided line and some copper wire. The one on the left is after roughly 2 days of practice, with a fly hook, wax string and copper wire. Still is rough, but I’m happy with the improvement so far.

    Tie the copper wire into the start of the thread and then tie it off with the closing thread knot.

    I may be wrong but it looks like you’re using the wire itself to sort of secure it with a wire knot instead of the thread.

    Using the thread to secure the wire will keep it skinnier and cleaner.
