Update: Made another wooden rod since I was inspired by the last post. Red Oak rod with spliced joints (feels like a one piece), red cedar handle and reel seat (walnut butt). Casts 5wt very well, ended up being a little less than 9ft. Not perfect, but casts well and the next one will be even better!

Do you buy the butts/seats for these assembled?
