Hi everyone!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I was hoping to get some help with my Sling pack. It a fishpond summit 2.0.

Unfortunately, during Hurricane Helene, a huge oak fell on the garage and house. This knocked out drywall and caused water damage. The drywall hit a lot of my gear when it fell.

I'm not sure if my fly rod and reel are salvageable, but I think I can save my pack. (Photos added) It's a mess as you can see. The straps got the worst of it.
Any tips or ideas on how to get all this soaked in drywall out?

Thanks!

Looks like theres just a little dry wall dust and some debris? Just brush that shit off. Maybe take a damp cloth to it.

  2. Drywall/gypsum is pretty water soloable so warm will probably get most of it out and you can get 95%+ out with some soap.

I’ve washed many backpacks in the washing machine. Open up all the pockets and let it ride, air dry after.

  4. Powdered laundry soap and hand wash, use a soft bristle toothbrush for the heavier stuff. I’ve had great luck with gain. I’m sorry to hear you got hit. Was deployed to NC the days before and 2 weeks after Helene hit. Hope you and your family are doing alright. Happy Thanksgiving.

Scrub that shit as best you can but they are well made so even if it’s not like new at least it will still be usable
