And my new table has a tapered edge. Any ideas on how to attach this securely?

  1. When I was 18, I just dealt with it and constantly readjusted the clamp. Other option might be to get a big sheet of plywood or pine board and clamp the vice to that.

  2. Clamp to a board on top of the table. Protects the table top. Don’t forget to put a towel or something on the table first to stop it sliding about (and scratching the table)

  3. A fairly large cutting board can be used. Big enough to counterbalance, can hang it over the curved edge.

  4. As mentioned by others the posts on most vises are the same diameter so you can buy just the weighted pedestal I’ve also seen them made from a brick and wrapped in fabric. Just need the correct drill bit.
