I began fly fishing in July when my girlfriend got me a guided trip as a surprise. The guide mainly just focused on teaching me the basics (what he could in one day). We are in Nashville so this was a tailwater river (Caney Fork) in the middle of summer. My gf actually caught a rainbow that day while not even paying attention just letting her line drift 😂 anyway since then I have made my best effort to go as much as possible. But, being limited to what’s close to Nashville I was limited to targeting small mouth and whatever else would take my bait (sunfish, bluegill, bream). I’ve only gotten to go a couple times since it’s been cold all on the Caney fork and didn’t have any luck. This past weekend I was in Arkansas for a graduation and made time to fish the Little Red River near Pangburn and caught my first trout! It was on a beadhead pheasant tail nymph. Lengthy post I know, but I was extremely happy and it was a long time coming. My 1st and 2nd are attached

  1. Don’t lip trout like that. You’re not supposed to handle them like a bass, you will break it’s jaw
