I was gifted these flies, and I'm wondering if I should use floatant when using them. They were from Orvis if that helps. Thanks in advance!

Nope. Those are subsurface flies.

Floatant only goes on flies you want to float, like dries. You want these flies to sink below the surface.

Your question has already been answered, but an easy way to tell is if there’s a metal bead or set of barbell “eyes” on the fly, you wouldn’t apply floatant. Those are there specifically to make it sink.

They’re streamers. Use a sinker
