Anyone have any tips for taking a dog along fishing?

She’s still a very trainable puppy. I’ve taken her about a dozen times over last year.

Our current routine is
She waits in the car while I get suited up
We do some loops around the parking area till she does her business, I pick it up and bring it back to the car
We then head off to fishing spot while I eat an Apple and warm up her recall by giving her a bit of Apple every time I call her name and she checks in.
We get down to the river, I rig up while she swims in the water
For the first 45 minutes of fishing she usually messes up my fishing. I cast and she walks in direction of my cast. Swims in pools when it looks like I’m going to cast there.
After 45 minutes of fishing, she starts getting more interested in sticks on the bank and I start catching fish.
After about a good hour of fishing she started getting tired/bored and will jump on me if she thinks I’ve been in the same spot too long

I read a book about a guy who goes fishing with his dog who could put the dog in a stay by the bank and the dog wouldn’t break it while he fished. I can’t get her to hold a stay for more than a minute and haven’t been using any commands besides a soft recall to get her to check in.

Any suggestions or can anyone share their experience/method of fishing with their dog?
