Hello everybody

Last season my orvis encounter unfortunately broke at the first piece.
As it has no warranty I am looking for a upgrade.

I really came to like fishing with streamers the most, so I am considering getting a Vision streamer outfit. I am now unsure wich one I should be getting.

I am considering getting the 9.3 ft 7wt one aswell as a 6wt Vision eka rod as replacement for my broken encounter rod (6 wt floating line).

I'm mainly targeting trout in stocked ponds/Lakes with the Vision Eka (maybe some chub on nymphs aswell) .
As for the Streamer outfit, I am looking to use it for mainly the same purposes with some loght pike fishing in the future (though I have a Vision pike outfit for that application).

What are your thoughts and experiences with those vision outfit and rods?

  1. I’m not familiar with those rods but I tend to suggest that people skip a weight when looking for more tools early in the process. So if I had a 6, my next heavier rod (at first) would be an 8. Just gives you a broader set of tools. It would help you if you were throwing bigger pike flies, too.

Then if you’re like me, you eventually fill in those gaps with more toys. I mean tools 👀.

I also recommend casting rods if possible before you buy them, to see if they work for you.

  2. Check out the echo carbon xl or ion xl. They have it in all the sizes… great rod for $200.
