Reddington Field Kit, Trout or Bass version?

I've never even held a rod but there are a few posts touting the high quality of the Reddington Field Kits for beginners. I'll be fishing more for crappies, yellow perch here in Connecticut. Would the bass version be better than the trout version? Thanks for indulging such a noob question.
