I’m new to the streamer game and I picked up a streamer grab bag from Big Y. These the biggest streamers from the bunch and I’m wondering if they are all good trout streamers or not.

Also my streamer set up is a 9’ 6wt with SA frequency boost, if you think these are too big for that set up let me know!

Sharpie for size.

Thank you!

  1. Trout streamers can kinda be as big or small as you want/whatever the fish are willing to hit. Watch Kelly Galloup’s SlideInn videos on YouTube. He’s pretty much the guy when it comes to streamers. You’ll see how big some of the streamers he throws are. I wouldn’t be afraid to cast any of those on my 6wt. You can also use them for any other predatory fish in your waters!

  2. These are def trout streamers but bass won’t be picky about them too if you’re ever out targeting warm water species

  3. 5-6wt is great for those. You may need a pretty stiff leader to turn over the heavier ones. Mad River Outfitters has a great video with a streamer leader formula if you want to tie your own.

I’m far from an expert, but the experience that I do have has been 90% streamers.

You can use these for trout or bass or any other carnivorous fish. But yes, those will work for trout.

  5. A trout would potentially hit any of those yes. So would bass and lots of fish. Streamers are great attractors.

Everyone else here probably knows more about this than me but one appears to be a marker.
