So I’ve caught a couple of trout in these last days and don’t get me wrong I’ve enjoyed the whole ritual of gutting and cooking one, and the rest I want to send them back but unfortunately can’t seem to save them. I am using a #4 hook with some power bait salmon eggs.
Any advice ? I’m getting out of trout recipes lol

i typically wont be doing any catch and release with powerbait. they seem to always swallow it. i usually use powerbait for stockers i plan to eat. u could. try some small circle hooks though. although i assume u already are
first time i saw someone complaining over keeping a trout😭 in all seriousness ya dont. trout are delicious
You can’t control what happens under water
Just stop using powerbait and switch to lures.
Have you tried circle hooks? That’s one way. Another is switching to lures (with single hooks) instead of bait. If you’re getting a lot of action it doesn’t hurt to branch out.
