Hey folks, just wanted to pass along some useful information. My dad has Raynauds syndrome which basically means his hands overreact to cold and if his hands do get cold, especially wet and cold, it's over for him and he'd have to spend an hour in front of the heater to get feeling back. We've been looking around for a long time for gloves that are decently warm, waterproof, and provide enough dexterity where he can handle fish and set traps and such while wearing them. Tried some expensive "ice fishing" specific gloves that were very disappointing and finally hit the jackpot with these cheap hardware store gloves, pic attached. He's able to do everything that I and I assume most ice fishermen take their gloves off for. Hopefully can help someone!

  1. Best gloves for a low price. Still have some dexterity and makes life 100x better when reeling in tip ups.

I use this style for hunting. It can be difficult to get them dried out if the insulation gets wet. Started wearing exam gloves under them for a moisture barrier, and than seems to work well.

I just told my buddy a few weeks ago that those gloves are the best gloves I’ve ever owned and only discovered them because I won them.

I can’t wear them because my hands sweat too much and they don’t breath, so they quickly get wet, and if you ever take one off to do something, you put your hand back in a wet cold glove and then it’s wet and cold the rest of the day.

  5. I had a friend suggest latex or surgical gloves just to keep the water off of your hands. It has made a world of difference to me just being able to keep my hands dry. I put my normal winter gloves over them if my hands get cold

I dont wear the water proof ones. I bring 2 pairs, if one pair get soaked i use the other. I also wear snowmobile gaulet glovees and those for liner instead of what it comes with.

  7. I have Reynauds, I went with the lobster claw ski gloves, they are a mitten with the pointer finger separate, so you get the warmth of a mitten while still being able to hold a spinning rod. Free the powder has them for like $88, I put the leather cure on them and they are very waterproof, I’m happy with them.
