Hey y’all, i’m from southeast alaska (spent most my life charter and commercial fishing) and I am going to visit some extended family in Ventura this upcoming september/october. I don’t know the first thing about surf fishing other than whatever I watch from a youtuber I like that goes by Outdoor chef life on youtube haha.
I have a few questions and I’ve got around $500-2000 to spend on gear. (maybe more if my girlfriend lets me)

Location advice for late September/October (not your special spot just a general area)

Gear recommendations (I know this is a loaded question because of how everything can vary depending on what you’re targeting etc etc but any suggestions are appreciated)

Anything else you all might think I need to study up on and research before hitting the surf

Had a fucking blast fishing out of Homer last year. 10/10 would do again.
Never fished the west coast but do a lot here in NC.
