Want to know what these are and how to get them to bite!

In a small pond near the Las Vegas Wash, they swam in schoals of 10-20 this little pond had about 3 shoals, seems like low water level trapped them there, for now. They swam among what seemed to be common carp, which seemed slower than them. They ignored spinners, plastics on jigheads, and tubes. Thought to try some bugs but I couldnt find one in my short stop there.

  1. REGINALDmfBARCLAY on

Tilapia. Try corn. I also used to catch them on chartreuse colored beetlespins and spinners when I was a kid.

  2. I concur with u/KylePeacockArt , tilapia. As for how to make them bite, they’re mostly vegetarian but I have caught them on small spinners and jigs.

  3. I have a lot of luck catching them on the fly in Texas, but small spoons, and light ned rigs will get it done too. If you find them bedding, they instinctively pick up and spit anything small that lands on the bed. For spoons, silver and gold seem to be the ticket. Replace the trailing treble with a size 8 or 10 hook for best results with the spoon.
