I've played around with this thing a bunch and I can't get it to work properly.
Setup:
-Hook2 4x
-Bullet skimmer with a mount to keep it flat and keeping it below the ice. (I know I should be using a ice transducer, but it's not in the budget). I've read there can be issues with where it plugs into the unit, and I've pushed really hard to make sure it's seated.
-Extra cable for transducer and power are coiled up together under the unit.
-Power is coming from a 40v Ryobi battery through a 36v to 12v converter
The picture shown is about the best image I can get with the sensativity turned almost all the way down. I can sometimes pick up my jig. The dial screen is completely useless as the whole thing is color.
I've tried ice fishing mode and that seems to make things worse. I've played with all the settings and can't get it to clean up without adjusting it to the point where it picks up almost nothing.
Any thoughts on my physical set up? Or what I should be doing with my settings?

Know anyone that will lend you their transducer? I would test one that works from a friend’s unit and then you can go from there. You can test yours on your friends too.
