It happens. Basically every line mfg has more defects out the box than they did a decade ago.
They’ll definitely take it as a return if you bought it from a shop or should online. Can also reach out to SA directly.

If it’s brand new, return it. Maybe the damage is just to the coating, or maybe the core is nicked and you’ll lose a big fish.

Should not happen with a brand new line. If it’s brand new, I’d take it back and ask for a replacement.
That being said, super easy to cut that piece off and make a new loop, which I do all the time.
Eventually every welded loop will do that. But, shouldn’t be like that from the get-go.

Return asap especially if brand new they’re chill about that

Looks like nail knot city.

Yes that happened to me with my first line from them. Since then I’ve never purchased SA lines again.

This happened to me recently on a SA Grand Slam salt line. The shop where I bought it took care of it immediately.
Take it back and exchange it.

Looks like the fishing gods corrected the line for you. Loops are pointless. Nail knot is the way to go.

I’d take it back just in case the entire line is defective. If you can’t for some reason, just nail knot it with some heavier mono, fish it, and hope for the best. Good luck!

Yeah, scientific tanglers. Usually they wait for a couple of fishing days to crack.
