Hey all first time posting in here.

I found what seems like a steal for a visser 5 bailess reel as well as the custom rod. I’m very interested in getting this setup but it’s always hard to tell exactly with surf fishing what the rod and reel will be able to do in terms of weight and capacity. I understand the rod is a 10 ft with 12-25 lb line, would this give it a M- MH action? And with the reel, it’s listed to hold 290 yds of 30lb braid, would it be around a 5000 in terms of its size?

I work better for judging these things within the thousand scale (4000,4500,5000…. Etc). As well as for the rod, it’s better for me to understand what I’m buying with things like is action and power. For better info I on what setup I’m looking for I fish the striped bass runs in Jersey and surf fishing in waders means I’m getting the reel wet.

Any answers would be highly appreciated

There isn’t a universal “thousand scale” – can differ drastically between manufacturers. So go based on the line capacity you need and take a look at gear ratio for power/speed. As for the rod, I would ask them what lures it’s specifically rated for. You can’t really guess by length/line rating.

Edit: just saw the second pic. Rod rating is right on it.
