  1. I don't know if it's a symptom of no longer being a newbie in the hobby, but nowadays I get more excited by breeding setups than I do seeing an immaculate aquascape which I could never replicate or afford. Show me Cory fry and I'm happy

  2. 7:30 thank you SO MUCH for showing that phase of a seasoned tank!
My tank is about 5 years old but I’ve been battling green spot algae ever since moving 3 years ago with bleach to the point I had to buy double of everything. I didn’t realize the pristine ecosystem had been working against me and my critters all these years.

I finally have life in the tank!

    Floating water sprites,

coarse and polishing filter media instead of just polishing (getting clogged),

blackworms with planaria picked out as meticulously as possible before introducing (instead of just pellets and frozen bloodworms)

detritus worms that probably came from the plants or “dirty water”,

a crap ton of nerites for the green spot algae I’d been spending hours a month on for just that alone at:
    2 tiger
    2 zebra
    4 olive
    3 horned

2 mystery snails (always had these for about 2 years before finally getting our 2 newts)

No more scrubbing. Let the seasoning process FINALLY finish!!!

  3. Hi i have a problem i don't understand or know how to fix. i do 50% water changes every 5 days and i just tested all my tanks with the master test kit all are great but one and that is the nitrate it is either at 40ppm or 80ppm i cant tell as they almost look the same. i don't know why it is like this as i did the water change the day before the fish seem to be doing ok so will this hurt the fish? and how do i fix this?

  4. question here I found drinking water test strips it has all the tests a aquarium test strip and more like metals like copper , iron and lead with few more E.coli and few other types like that and you get more strips and for less money could I use those or no

  5. I remember those tiny crypts from years past, what finally got them to grow? The room is looking great, I really love this new chapter of crowd sourcing and custom printing mods for our setups!

  6. I really like 10 gallon tanks. Also some 5 gallon tanks. Aquatics is so good for our minds. There is NOTHING like a happy healthy fish tank. Mine have lots of live plants, gravel, ramshorn snails, pleco fish, and a whole lot of fun guppies. Plenty of bubbles (not too much though) and enough light. I also make sure my fish get plenty of sleep – at least 17 hours a day without the lights. Keeping a fish tank is similar to keeping our brains healthy.
    Thanks for your videos, Cory!
