What are your thoughts on the betta tank in Severance?

  1. At least they appear to be in a big enough tank instead of in a bowl like they’re usually portrayed. Could use some decor, but could be worse. He also gained the orange fish at some point – it was just the blue one at the beginning.

They still detect each other hormones etc. stresses the fish out, not good for anyone. Doesn’t make sense Just buy 2 separate tanks?

They represent the Innie/Outie dimorphic relationship. They know of each other’s existence, but can never meet. It’s an interesting visualization.

I think it’s so smart from a storytelling point of view. You can see it behind Mark when there’s tension between innie/outie.

Also interesting to consider that they might kill each other if “integrated.” Isn’t that what happened to Petey?

From a fish keeping point of view it’s certainly less than ideal.

  5. I’ve never seen the show, but that picture is the most depressing betta tank I’ve seen in a while. Bettas make their homes under large leaves and among branches, limbs, and roots in the water. Bare, open tanks are the opposite of what they like.

  6. Very barren, and the spotlight is a very unnatural color tone. It reminds me of spotlights over a prison yard at night. A live plant in each side would go a long way to help the fish feel more secure, especially if it was tall and had wide enough leaves for them to rest on. They prefer to rest higher in a tank due to being labyrinth breathers and need to access the surface of the water to take breaths.

great imagery, i hope its only rarely set up like that for shooting and usually has lots of plants or whatever in between shots.

  8. I was hopping someone would post this eventually cause I didn’t want to go through the hassle

I think It’s just a prob to symbolize innie and outies

I would say I do hope they are actually taking care of these fish behind the scenes and not just replacing them every time they die, I know they have laws about this but I find it hard to believe Hollywood would go the extra mile to actually take care of fish.

If someone knows about this specific topic I’d love your input.
