There are a couple ice fishing items at a local auction. I was wondering if any of the 3 items were good?

First 1 is a Strike master Lazer mag Xpress gas powered ice auger. Runs

2nd is a flip-over ice house. It’s in fair condition.

3rd is another ice house. Team Otter Outdoors Magnum. It is worn and in not very good condition.

I’m new to ice fishing and want something fairly simple. I don’t know if a gas powered auger or electric auger is better.

Are the any of the 2 ice house worth it. The ice auger? Thanks in advance.

Depending on the price maybe. I’d pay less tha $20 for the auger and $50 or less for any of the rest. Good cheap new equipment probably can be had for 200-300

  2. You need to check the bottoms of the flip overs and see what condition are they in, that second one looks like theirs mouse damage? Zippers work? Patching holes is easy (completely dry rotted or worn thin is another level of probably not worth it)

The shantee patches by what’s their name usually goes on clearance in a few weeks this time of year. I bought 2 packs for like $4.00 last year to start patching my old Artic extreme. I’ll have plenty of left overs.

If that gas auger is operational and the blades aren’t f’d. There is nothing wrong with gas, if it’s what you can afford. (I wouldn’t pay much for one)

Electric is king. Never thought I’d be saying that. (Edited) but I am. Hands down it just rocks!!!!

Be it a dedicated electric auger or cordless drill and auger. I run a drill combo. I can run off one battery easily for 3 days if not 4 where I live. I drill a ton of holes because I enjoy the hunt. But I’m not drilling 2 feet of ice either.

I have still got my gas auger. But it’s mostly digging post holes now. If we headed north I’d probably bring it for the piece of mind having a back up and it’s what I have an extension for. I have two buddies with 40 volts and those are the two I usually take ice fishing trips with. So we always have both of theirs.
