My bettas dorsal fin gone !?!
This is Bubba , short for bubba sulky.. I spent a chunk of money and redid his 10 gal tank three weeks ago with the fluval substrate for plants and put four plants and a bag of those “glitter rocks” with some spider wood. I felt like it looked awesome and he seemed happy. Water tests coming up good. this month I’ve been preoccupied but when taking a close look at him today his entire dorsal fin is gone and it looks like he has fin rot all over 🙁 I went to the pet store and got a brand new tank for a hospital tank, doxycycline, Indian almond leaves, and also put aquarium salt in it…. I really like my fish I hope I’m doing enough. I’ve spent so much money on him idk what else I can do. I’ve had him for a year I do 50% water changes every 2 weeks with treated water, feed him pellets everyday and freeze dried blood worms every other. But I’ve never changed the filter pad in the tank, I just rinse it off. I thought I read u should never change the filter or your cycled tank will crash. Idk!!!

a few things wrong here, no judgement💞 i suggest buying frozen mysis shrimp and brine shrimp, as well as bug bites because pellets are not the healthiest option and bloodworms are fatty so only feed those once a week. 50% water changes are too much. i suggest 25-35% water changes & vacuum once per week – every two weeks(for future reference) one VERY IMPORTANT thing i just realized when reading is that you put aquarium salt in the hospital tank. PLEASE do not do this and only give him salt baths up to 10 minutes at a time. 1tbs per gallon. yes never change the filter the fin rot has nothing to do with the water but the fish himself has the disease the water quality can cause this so its good you moved him tanks i suggest getting a sponge filter and doing 25% water changes every other day for BOTH tanks, original and hospital as he is healing up. please change water in hospital tank as you added salt to it. any other questions you can message or ask!!!💕 all said with care we all make mistakes
