Would you happen to know a good option (brand/model) around $300-400US that can handle around 3-5oz lead and is relatively light in the hand, around 13-15’? The reel I have planned for it is the Shimano Power Aero TD with PE2-PE3 line (weighs around 550g) Not looking to break any records in distance, so I’d prioritize lighter weight blanks, but would still love to get 150-ish meters/yds out there relatively easily, and possibly improve over time. Is this a reasonable ask and spec?

I dont mind going to Asian Portal for this, I see they have loads of them, but Im feeling a bit paralysed with all the options. Dont mind the number of pieces, would maybe consider a telescopic rod as well. What I wouldn’t want is glass and/or solid tip, I don’t think I’d enjoy them. Really just wanting a good carbon blank, mod-fast to fast action.

EDIT: Adding info based on responses:

  • I realize I've stated the price in the USD, and now I'm getting some USA-based suggestions. 🙂 However, I am in Australia, and the price range was stated in the USD to make it a bit easier for more people to understand the budget, but I am not really able to buy from the States, as shipping is very cost-prohibitive.
  • In Australia there are a few rods that look interesting, that I have been able to check out in person, but I am wondering if there are JDM models out there, which would clearly surpass them in lightness, snappiness and sensitivity. These are the Aussie models:

  1. Big_Sector_3590 on

The newer Okuma Rockaway HDs accomodate those weights but max out at 12′. They’re in the $120ish range and can launch weight way out there.

  2. Look into the Shimano Ultegra 5500 the longcast spool design will help you reach that distance.
