I got him yesterday and he will only stay at the bottom corners of the tank his (as he is in the picture), I’m not sure why. It’s my first time owning a betta and I’m not sure if I’m doing enough for him to be happy and healthy!

I would add some more water for more swimming room and see if that helps. He might just need some adjustment time

I would also invest in silk plants, personal preference, if you are buying fake plants. Plastics can be harsh on the body but silk plants are easy to swim through and around

I would change the substrate to aquasoil or sand, and add aquarium wood and alot more plants,

leave in silk plants, remove plastic. get live plants and more hides, fill the tank all the way, and do you have a heater?

He’s probably just stressed from being in a new environment which is completely normal, I’d just leave the lights off for a few days and don’t interact with them (not even to feed) and when you come back after 2-3 days he should be perked up

As for the tank itself , it looks pretty good to me for a starter tank, the only thing I’d really change is swap out those (fake?) plants for some real or more natural looking ones

  6. Silk plants, live plants, hideouts. Amazon is your best friend for hides. Aquarium co-op is good for live plants.

Varied diet as well, I feed my betta flakes and betta bug bites for the most part, and frozen blood worms once a week. Make sure they’re thawed first. Different options for different picky bettas but switch it up once in a while.

Look up fish in cycle, your betta will be affected if your tank has not gone through a proper nitrogen cycle
