I have a Johnny Morris Reel from Bass Pro – it’s probably ten years old. When the spool is in its most extended position the bail can’t clear it. I’ve not experienced this before… can’t figure out if there’s a way to fix it or if it’s a design flaw. Nice reel though. See pictures.

That’s pretty crazy, is the spool definitely all the way on the pinion correctly and a spacer hasn’t moved or anything? Never seen anything like this before.
If pic 1 is the spool on its lowest position it’s still too high so perhaps a washer has shifted and it’s not screwing down properly.
Is your spool bent and catching on the frame?
