Hi, I live in northern Chile, and the other day I found this fish. I had never seen anything like it before, and when I tried to look it up, I only found results suggesting it could be a “toadfish” (Thalassophryne montevidensis). However, that species only grows up to 20 cm, while the fish I found was about 1 meter long. It looks exactly as shown in the photos. I would really appreciate any help identifying it.
Hola, vivo en el norte de Chile y el otro día encontré este pez. Nunca había visto uno así, y al buscar información, solo me aparece que podría ser un “pez sapo” (Thalassophryne montevidensis). Sin embargo, esta especie alcanza un máximo de 20 cm, mientras que el pez que encontré medía aproximadamente 1 metro. La apariencia es exactamente como se muestra en las fotos. Agradecería mucho su ayuda para identificarlo.
