Hello guys, this is the first time I care for a Betta (or any kind of fish haha) and my first tank as well so I'm an absolute beginner.
I made sure to cycle the tank for 2 months before introducing P'tit Jean here.
P'tit Jean has been settling in for a little bit than a month now. He's quite active and likes to sleep in the plants or underneath the big root.
I have been reading here and there about Bettas, and I got worried about finrot 😮
Especially those black edges he has, he's always got them but I don't know enough to be sure it's this or not, could you help me figure it out ?
Also, haven't performed water changes yet just topping off what evaporates. I got a filtration system for 100L but made sure the outflow is aimed at the edge.
I was told by the aqua shop I go to that the white and green fuzz (bacteria ?) is normal and should go in a few months.
As this is my first time caring for a Betta, I would love any tips/suggestions to make sure he's well taken care of
For food, I give him few pellets twice a day when he's hanging around the front of the tank except Sundays
Thanks a lot for your help and comments !

Someone sold you a dying or very sick fish
Finrot from poor water quality due to lack of water changes is my guess. What are you topping off with? Tap water? Be mindful that minerals don’t evaporate and you could be making your water extremely hard. How did you cycle the tank? Fishless shouldn’t take 2 months.

Titus says hi!
By the way the black edges are beautiful not a problem. The older Titus get the more defined the black edges get
Be carful with topping off water. Evaporated water leave behind minerals and when you top it off with more tap water the minerals just build up and the water becomes very hard.
