This morning I woke up to check on my tank and I saw this little guy wrapped around this. I unplugged the filter, he detached and is floating around really weird but he’s not dead. Is my filter system too strong for him or is something else up. None of my other tetras are behaving differently or getting caught on the filter. Sorry it’s blurry it’s a screenshot from a video I took

To add: this tank is 6 cardinal tetras and one Betta for a ten gallon. Betta is pretty chill, keeps to itself and likes to hide, the tetras like to hang out together in the corner right next to the filter system. When I turn the system back on, he always gets sucked right back into it. Weak tetra or powerful filter?

You probably dont have great places to hide, so they hide near the filter. Neons are scardey cats and like to have things to hide behind quickly if they get scared.

Add a pre filter sponge to prevent fish from getting sucked in like this. Simple fix

They only get stuck to the filter intake when they are ill and about to die, in my experience. New neons just have a bad time acclimating to new environments

Well, I think it’s because the other ones just haven’t gotten close enough to it yet.🫣 but safe to say if it happened once it’ll happen again. I can’t say if it’s too strong, but you could consider figuring out some type of guard to put around it. Good luck.
