I recently purchased a 7’1 medium heavy St. Croix BassX rod. I noticed that the top 5 line guides have stainless steel inserts but the rod tip guide does not. Is the stainless steel insert missing from the rod tip? Or is this just how it’s designed? Can’t find any close up pics or info online. Thanks!

I don’t think it’s missing anything and it’s intentional. I don’t have a Bass X but my St Croix Trout Series are the same. Stainless except the tip guide
I kind of doubt they are stainless steel. More likely – inexpensive ceramics.
Top guide has an aluminum oxide insert to minimize wear from braid. Stainless tips will get grooved up quick.
