I’m renting an apartment and the RO filter I bought didn’t connect to the faucet and I didn’t want to go through the headache of finding the specific adapter. At Publix they have these RO water dispensers with a TDS of around 24-28 which I remineralize with Salty shrimp up to 140. Easy, quick, and for the most part cost effective since my water had bad parameters. Too hard, Ph too high etc. with salty shrimp I get 7.6 Ph, Kh of 4-5, and Gh of about 7. At my LFS they charge 75¢ a gallon for RO

No. My favorite fish shop sells RO water for 49¢/gallon and also fills it themselves and load it in my car for me. So no, I don’t pay more to do it myself lol
Did it for years with my reef tanks until I invested in an RO filter and 35 gallon storage tank.
Before I got an RO system, but I used the 5gal water bottles.
Gets a little bit expensive, but my tap water is often over 500ppm nitrates and loaded with iron oxides.

Yep, I have several 5gal jugs I refill at walmart. Price isn’t that bad and it doesn’t mess up my parameters.
I haul the water for my whole house (dry cabin life). I go to a local spring, although I want to start using RO for top-ups to avoid too much mineral build up between water changes.
I’ve seen these but as a 4’10 person I can’t carry a full bucket. Only the 2.5 gallon buckets haha
