I added a pleco wafer for my shrimp and then when I left for work I saw that my betta fish was eating the a leftover part, I assumed he ate it and I thought fasting would help him. Now he went from having a big stomach to even bigger one to being less active and now to this, struggling to breathe (I’ve hung something on the aquarium so he’s staying near the water surface) but now he’s pineconing and struggling a lot, he can still swim very actively when I scare him on accident and he seems to have some poop coming out but I am very afraid with how he’s looking, I feel extremely guilty and I dont know what I could do to help him, he ate the pellet around 5 days ago, any advice is appreciated

Hey, sorry but he’s already pineconing so there’s not a whole lot you can do!
Unfortunately, the only kind thing you can do at this point is to euthanise… That level of pineconing is probably as severe as I’ve ever seen. I’m so sorry.
pineconing means dropsy. [here](https://jessielbettas.substack.com/p/treating-dropsy-in-bettas) is an article on how to treat dropsy by someone who has had success doing it. also, epsom salt baths and feeding daphnia helps with constipation, though in this case the bloating might be caused by dropsy and not food at all
