Yello, built this DIY trolling motor mount/setup for my Ascend 10T. Only problem is the rear end of the boat sits pretty low with my current battery (45 pound) Deep Cycle. Would a 20lb lithium get it to sit at a much safer level in the water? Or do I need a different solution?

Lightweight battery recs would be great too, thanks!

Amped Outdoors makes some great LifePO4 batteries that are smaller and more lightweight. I have a 12v 100ah one on my kayak and its only about 25 lbs. Ive learned I can run my trolling motor all day both commuting places and spot lock and still have tons of capacity (well over 50%) left. So that tells me you could go even smaller for your use case.

I use a 35 Ah Mighty Max that weighs about 20lbs for my Ascend H12. It gets me about 5-6 hours of pretty consistent trolling. I bring a spare of the same battery and place it in the front to even out the weight. Total cost for both batteries was about $120.
