Can anyone help me identify what’s growing on my job? Is it dangerous, and how do I get rid of it?

  1. Your java fern is propagating itself and making new plants. That’s why the other person called them “babies”. You’re doing well, or at least your Java Fern thinks so.

  2. It is sprouting clones of itself. The baby ferns come complete with their own root systems. You can pinch them off and replant them once they seem big enough to you.

Yay!! More babies!! I was shocked when I first saw them on my plants too! It just means your tank is doing very well and is healthy enough to grow!

  4. More Java Fern.

It’s a weird plant that propagates through adventitious sprouts through sporangiums. Once they get large enough and develop a rhizome, you can snip them off and plant them elsewhere, sell them, give them away, or throw them in the trash.

Otherwise, the sprout will separate on its own and plant itself where the currents of your tank will it.
