I have a hard time telling with the little guys sometimes – but the strong barring on the side and spots on both the dorsal and anal fin point to Bluegill (hybrids always possible too I suppose).
Great catch though! I love this family of fish 🙂

Welcome to the club!!! I can’t think of a better fish to start with than a Bluegill. That’s a great photo, especially for a beginner. Looking forward to seeing your future catches.
